Shelby is one of the leading GPS surveyors in the region. He has an extensive background in cadastral and boundary surveying, having worked throughout the Northwest for 8 years performing large-scale retracement surveys. Shelby was the Field Operations Director of a full-service surveying and aerial mapping firm in Northern California where he was responsible for overseeing all survey and control related activities, including GPS services. During his 5 years with that firm, he performed GPS control surveys in Alaska, California, Ohio, Oregon, Rhode Island, and Washington. In 1995, Shelby founded OrbiTech, a company specializing in high accuracy GPS surveying. Shelby is also Vice President of 3Di West. He has been a speaker at several regional surveying and mapping conferences involving the technical aspects of GPS and its implementation.
